Crooked Hook is another one of those bands that effortlessly channels long past eras. Their style, and perhaps spirit, is blues influenced with an underlying groove. Heavy and hypnotic, powerful and persuasive, their simplistic approach belies the effectiveness of their sound to grab you and hold on tight.
On their first full-length effort, Crooked Hook build on the enjoyable promise of their debut EP, taking heavy riffage from the proto-metal late '60s/early '70s and having their own way with it. Crooked Hook has the chops and sense of the sound needed to make the chunky, stuttering riffs of songs like "The Captain Will Be Your Guide" stand out.
*UPDATE* Now you can listen to "The Captain Will Be Your Guide" and a couple of other tracks below!
Crooked Hook lure the listener into hypnosis with dizzying riffs and a relentless pulse. Bluesy passages lead to otherworldly places. Menacing guitar tones and punishing rhythms define a sound that conjures bad omens, foreboding, and haunting.
